ABOUT MATT

I am a lifelong Ventura resident, father, university professor, and mental health professional committed to strengthening our public schools.

Professionally, I serve as a college professor of social work and work as an adolescent and family psychotherapist. My career has been dedicated to supporting families, promoting student well-being, and helping young people reach their full potential.

As a parent, I understand firsthand the importance of safe campuses, strong academics, and supportive learning environments.

I am running to bring compassion, openness, and accountability to the Ventura Unified School Board — working collaboratively, avoiding unnecessary extremes, and always asking one guiding question:

What is in the best interest of our children and our community?
