My name is Matt Metcalf and I have lived in Ventura my entire life. I take great pride in serving the community that raised me. I am running for Ventura Unified School Board because our schools need steady, student-centered leadership and responsible governance — not business as usual, and not unnecessary political noise.
My campaign is built on three priorities: Special Education and Mental Health Reform, Career Pathways for Students, and Ethical Fiscal Management.
As a college professor of social work, adolescent and family psychotherapist, and parent, I have spent my career working at the intersection of learning, mental health, and families. I believe schools work best when students feel supported, teachers and paraeducators are valued, and families have a school board that is transparent, accessible, and accountable.
